What Men And Women Consider A Dream Kitchen

You might be surprised to find that the typical stereotype that "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" isn't that applicable when it comes to designing a luxurious kitchen. After all, it's hard to argue about good food, a great kitchen workspace and all the latest gadgets and appliances to make life easy and stylish. What men and women may argue about is what exactly are necessary amenities and the actual design and aesthetics of the kitchen.

The Big Stone Ridge House Plan not only has everything a guy needs and wants in a kitchen, but it also comes with an optional basement plan featuring a media, game and exercise room, as well as a wet bar so he can enjoy his cooking creations with family and friends.

It's not surprising that men prefer a more modern, sleek design that is easy to maintain, while women look for warmth and hearth from their cabinetry, floors, countertops and faucets. Both men and women looking to create a dream kitchen believe that high quality products are the key ingredient in creating a luxurious design.

a kitchen with a full range of appliances

This kitchen design was created with function and style in mind to make cooking a treat. An open floor plan allows the cook to interact with guests in the breakfast nook and great room.

While both want a well-equipped kitchen, women tend to focus more on organization and creating a functional workspace. Our designers find that the majority of women want lots of storage space, which is why you'll typically find cabinets with lots of built-ins, like pull-out shelves, revolving shelves and drawer organizers in their kitchen designs. When it comes to requests for appliances our designers find both sexes in agreement about wanting bigger dishwashers, commercial-grade cooking and refrigeration appliances and high-end, eye-catching ventilation hoods and specialty items like wine refrigeration, pizza ovens, trash compactors and recycling centers.

As the demand increases for luxury kitchen designs, our designers and architects continue to create unique, breathtaking kitchens no matter what size or style of the house plan.

Design Tip
When it comes to kitchen sinks, bigger is better. The new trend is installing a large, single-bowl sink — which is more efficient for rinsing and washing, especially large pots and pans. The standard single bowl sink is 25 inches, but now people are looking for bowls that are 30" to 36 inches. For a more stylish look, choose an undermounted or integral sink in bronze, copper and stainless steel and match it with a decorative faucet to spice things up.
